Netflix Hellbound Collectible: The Grim Reaper Figure Production
2025.08.27
Director Yeon Sang-ho’s Hellbound was released in 2021 to much anticipation and quickly rose to the top of the global streaming charts, earning widespread acclaim. Following the success of Squid Game earlier that year, Hellbound further fueled the global momentum of K-content.

From Webtoon to Collectible Figure
Creallo first encountered Hellbound back when it was only known as a webtoon. In those early days, a client who introduced himself as part of a film production company approached us. He wanted to 3D print a character figure he had modeled, but most vendors had either rejected the project or offered prohibitively high quotes.
Upon reviewing the file, we realized the model had been designed for animation or gaming—not directly manufacturable. Significant modifications were needed to make it suitable for production. Nevertheless, with Creallo’s expertise and processes, we were able to deliver The Grim Reaper Figure at the required quality, exactly as envisioned, and at a reasonable cost. The figure was produced using SLA 3D printing with ABS-like black resin, finished with professional painting for mass production quality.
At that time, we had no idea the client was Director Yeon Sang-ho himself—we were simply focused on ensuring the best possible outcome. Later, when he expressed his delight upon receiving the figure and even placed an additional order as gifts for his staff, we realized that the name “Yeon Sang-ho” belonged to the very director behind Train to Busan and Hellbound.

From Prototype to Official Merchandise
Thanks to the success of that initial project, Creallo was once again entrusted to produce the official Hellbound merchandise figures in 2021. When preparing the collectibles for cast members, influencers, and special giveaways, the production team saw the earlier figure owned by Director Yeon Sang-ho and decided to work with Creallo.
The result was The Grim Reaper Figure—an exceptional piece that could truly be called one of the most striking collectibles ever produced. From its menacing pose to the tactile surface finish and subtle detailing across every contour, the figure perfectly captured the ominous and damp atmosphere of Hellbound.
As a special edition, the base of the figure carried the official Hellbound logo, created personally by Director Yeon Sang-ho. The production team was astonished at the quality achievable with 3D printing, noting that it far exceeded their expectations, and even placed additional orders for event prize giveaways.

Creallo’s Role in Creative Manufacturing
For Creallo, it was both an honor and a pleasure to collaborate with leading figures in the global content industry. Projects like these highlighted why Creallo existed: to listen closely to clients’ needs and deliver outstanding results with cutting-edge manufacturing technologies.
Back in 2021, this project reaffirmed Creallo’s mission: to redefine what’s possible in on-demand production—offering unparalleled quality and a seamless manufacturing experience so that every creator, engineer, and innovator could become the protagonist of their own success story.
And today, Creallo continues that journey—empowering companies across industries with instant AI-powered quotes, real-time manufacturability feedback, and global-scale production capabilities, from one-off prototypes to large-volume manufacturing.
